Kindy Connect provides the opportunity for 3 and 4 year old children who are eligible for kindy enrolment in 2022 to build a connection with the kindy environment, staff and children, and supports them to build skills and relationships prior to starting their eligible kindy year at Lobethal Kindergarten.

After the numerous challenges of 2019/2020, and the resulting trauma on our community, we are excited to be able to offer this opportunity to our families. The kindy environment provides a safe nurturing environment for all families, and the benefits of being able to offer an extended time frame to build connections with the kindy environment, staff, peers and other families.

In 2021 our Kindy Connect/Pre Kindy sessions are being held within the regular kindergarten sessions at Lobethal Kindergarten. Children are supported by staff to access the kindy program, and the program is designed to be inclusive of all children’s participation.

Sessions run for two hours. The morning session is from 9am – 11am, and the afternoon session is from 1pm – 3pm. Currently we offer places on Monday morning, Tuesday morning, Wednesday and Thursday morning and afternoon. There will be some days where sessions will not be offered, and you will be notified of these at the beginning of the term where ever possible. Kindy Connect children will not participate in programmed off site excursions, or the Bush Kindy program.

Please bring a sunsmart hat, fruit/healthy snack, water bottle, weather appropriate clothing, and a change of clothes. Please clearly label everything. Kindy hats and clothing are available to order online if required.

We are an allergy aware centre, and in 2021 we are also nut free. Please do not send nuts to kindy with your child.

Please use the side gate to enter the kindy, and remember to use the COVID check in each time. You will also need to sign your child in and out of each session on the kindy connect sign in sheet. Ensure you sunscreen your child.

As part of the State Government ‘no jab, no play’ policy, all children attending Kindergarten must provide a copy of their Immunisation History Statement showing they are up to date with their immunisations or on a recognised catch up schedule. This can be easily obtained via the Medicare link in your myGov account. You will be asked to keep this up to date over your child’s kindy journey as they receive their immunisations.

Enrolment forms, SMS contact, bushfire and emergency contacts, local walk permission, media consent and a Health Support Form will be supplied and are required to be completed prior to your child starting. If your child has any additional medical plans, etc. these will be discussed with you and appropriate paperwork completed.

Whilst we prefer children to be toilet trained, we realise this can be very tricky for some children. We do not have change facilities, but have procedures in place to provide a stand up change if required. Please have a chat to staff if you are concerned about this.
