‘Bush Kindy’

After the resounding success of our recent outdoor kindy week, and the fact it validated so many of our thoughts about the immense importance of providing a natural based outdoor learning environment for our children (not to mention the changes it has been the catalyst to us implementing on a more permanent basis in our learning environment) we were keen to further extend ourselves to include both the wider environment and community. Outdoor Kindy Week – day 5

We had hoped for a few showers during the week to challenge us all just that little bit more, however we had been blessed with beautiful crisp autumn weather, until today.  This morning we were reminded of the imminent arrival of winter.  We woke to the sound of steady rain, but as the children began to arrive, the clouds seem to lift a little.  With the campfire

Outdoor Kindy Week – day 4

As far as a warm and welcoming place to come together in the mornings, our campfire has been very popular with both adults and children every morning.  Today was no exception.  It was lovely to see so many parents stay for a chat and a play with their children, and to see the obvious pride from the children as they showed their parents all

Outdoor Kindy Week – Day 3

Today was our third day of outdoor kindy, however for the group of children that joined us this morning, and for Nell, it was their first experience of our exciting outdoor learning environment.  It was out mildest morning so far and yet still cool enough that the warmth of the campfire enticed many of the children and parents to sit on our logs and chat by the fire. We had

Outdoor Kindy Week – day 2

Once again a chilly morning for our frogs group meant the warmth of campfire was a popular spot to sit, chat, reflect on our learning experiences of yesterday and plan lots of new adventures to fill another day. A few parents joined us for a chat this morning, we had another delivery of some wood, and we even had a big brother (who happens to

Outdoor Kindy Week – Day 1

After much excitement and preparation over the past few weeks we spent our first full day outdoors today. The morning was perfect for us to be rugged up in beanies and coats to protect ourselves from the obvious chill in the air, and the campfire was a welcome meeting point for those wanting to warm themselves a little before heading back to explore this new and

Outdoor Kindy Week

We are so excited that next week (week 5) is outdoor kindy week. This week the children have been busy preparing for their outdoor learning. The campfire pit is nearly dug and the log seats in place. Remember we are after donations of hay bales, pine cones, rope, firewood etc. We are hoping for the weather to be kind to us, but if not

Think Big, Dream Big!

We would love parents and carers to help us plan the future directions for our kindy for 2013 and beyond. Over the next few weeks, we will have a large, blank sheet of paper for parents and families to contribute their thoughts, dreams and ideas about our future goals, programming ideas and any other ideas you can think of! As a kindy staff team,
